My way of dropping tear-off addresses is by adding entries to /etc/postfix/virtual; e.g.,

contact@huyle.com               devnull

(devnull is an alias to /dev/null as you'd guess.)

But that's a bit inconvenient to change. Maybe there's a better way.

All of my spam filters got lost in the pre-move disk crash.  What are the current suggestions for state-of-the-ofb spam blocking?  And the best way to drop/bounce mail to certain tear-off addresses?

Because I'm sure my spool is 90+ large spam and wasting space

Things are going well, and the time of the switch over approaches.  If you use mail locally on ofb, I'd recommend holding off until the all-clear.

Also, in case anyone was confused, I have said I'm making changes to the mail spool, but technically, this is /var/mail which is getting its own disk.  This where all the mail directories are.  I think that the mail spool is properly the place where the mail server keeps mail in flight.  I'm not touching that.

Also, after this is done, a copy of everyone's mail will still remain on the root partition.  In order to get any gains from this change, we'll need to delete it.  So, after the all clear people should check if their mail looks all good and if not, we still have the original /var/mail.  I figure we'll delete it in a few days, maybe a week.  So, please speak up if you have any issues.

Mail will be going down pretty soon and you'll hear from me when we're back.

Hi,

I'm likely (if prep and research goes well) going to do some maintenance on the OFB mail spool tonight/this morning.  I'll be creating a new disk for the mail spool to fix our issues with running out of space.  During the switch over, postfix and dovecot (our mail server and POP3/IMAP server) will be shut down.  I don't anticipate downtime for very long.

I'll send an all clear (or an I give up) when it's all done.  All other updates will be on slack (#miniofb).

I think I'll also send another email right before the switch over, too.  All mail reception will be off and remote mail access will be off, but anyone accessing mail locally on ofb will presumably want to stop doing that during the switch over.  I don't think it would be an issue, but better safe than sorry.

If you have concerns, let me know.
