Downtime tonight.
by Chris Sloan
Hi,
We're going to be working on OFB again tonight. This will result in a few
reboots and probably some time where ofb is in a single user mode and so
unavailable, but will require no further action from others.
The list of tasks we're looking to complete tonight includes:
- Resizing OFB's RAM. We rebooted last night due to running out of
memory.
- Adding a swap disk.
- Converting /home from ext2 to ext4.
- It being ext2 is why the reboot this morning took over an hour.
Plus things will be faster after the conversion.
It's going to take us a while to get set, so there will be a bit before any
reboots, so if you have questions or comments, fire away.
I'm probably going to keep most updates to #miniofb on slack
<https://ofb.slack.com/archives/C2A4BR7KL>, and maybe a wall or two on
ofb. There will also be an all clear email when we're done.

Mail spool maintenance
by Chris Sloan
Hi,
I'm likely (if prep and research goes well) going to do some maintenance on
the OFB mail spool tonight/this morning. I'll be creating a new disk for
the mail spool to fix our issues with running out of space. During the
switch over, postfix and dovecot (our mail server and POP3/IMAP server)
will be shut down. I don't anticipate downtime for very long.
I'll send an all clear (or an I give up) when it's all done. All other
updates will be on slack (#miniofb).
I think I'll also send another email right before the switch over, too.
All mail reception will be off and remote mail access will be off, but
anyone accessing mail locally on ofb will presumably want to stop doing
that during the switch over. I don't think it would be an issue, but
better safe than sorry.
If you have concerns, let me know.
